Our Mission is to introduce to Wine Lovers in the United States the unique, yet little known wines grown from grape varieties native to the country of production.
We are currently featuring Vranac (pron: vrah natch), from the ancient and historic Republic of Macedonia.
Vranac is produced from old vine grapes grown in the wine regions close to Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia, where the best of the red wines of Southeastern Europe are produced. Because of the relatively high altitude, and continental - rather than Mediterranean - climate, the grapes enjoy a long, dry, growing environment. The resulting wines tend to develop, and display, very true, fully ripened varietal characteristics.
